The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) begins on November 1st and ends April 30th.
Our Home Energy Assistance Program assists with paying bills for your primary heating source for your home. Unfortunately, we cannot pay all of your home heating bills. Eligibility is determined by the gross income of all family members, as well as family size and energy burden.
Please call toll-free long distance 877-FUELAID or 877-383-5243 or call our Home Energy Assistance line 508-746-6707 and someone will be able to help you complete your application over the phone.
Applicants may submit a pre-application online through SSCAC's Home Energy Assistance client portal. Before starting your online pre-application, please review this list of documents you may need to submit or upload.
Once you have signed and submitted your pre-application, you will receive a follow up call from a staff member to review all information submitted through the portal. The staff member will also inform you of any missing documents needed to complete the application process.
Please note:
The pre-application must be signed and submitted to trigger a call from our Fuel Assistance staff.
SSCAC's Home Energy Assistance program partners with a network of 56 local volunteer intake sites to accept applications throughout the South Shore, Cape Cod, and the Islands.
Once your Home Energy Assistance application is approved, both you and your primary heating company (vendor) receive a written notification from SSCAC indicating the amount you have been approved for. This amount is not guaranteed, but is based upon funding availability.
After your household has been determined eligible, the vendor will send bills to SSCAC for your usage up to your eligibility amount as you receive deliveries or utility bills.
Although payment of these bills is dependent upon funding availability, SSCAC will make every effort to pay your bills up to your eligibility amount. Payments are made directly to your heating vendor.
