SSCAC's Educational Partners
Education is a proven pathway out of poverty and South Shore Community Action Council is proud to partner with Massasoit Community College and the Plymouth Literacy Program.
Massasoit Community College
Starting in February 2017, Massasoit Community College will offer English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses at their training site at 71 Obery Street in Plymouth. In order to meet students' educational needs, three levels of ESOL will be offered. Courses are open to new arrivals in the country and/or to adults who may have lived in the United States for many years but who have never formally studied the English language. In order to participate, students must he literate in their native languages.

Plymouth Literacy Program
The mission of Plymouth Public Library's Literacy Program is to provide adults in the greater Plymouth area the opportunity to develop and improve the life skills and literacy skills needed to achieve personal growth, to further their education, to seek better employment, and to benefit their overall quality of life.
The Plymouth Literacy Program offers classes for adults who are working towards passing the Hi-SET (the new test which has replaced the GED). We also provide tutoring for adults learning English as a second language (ESOL). Our tutors are volunteers from the community who have completed our tutor training program.
